2008 ROUNDUP + CAROL SINGERS!

For this extremely special show, Subterranean Trawler broke even more boundaries (and rules!) and had part of the Trinity College Choir in the tiny studio! In all there was 8 of us down there, and so whenever I was not playing my favourite songs of the year, 7 carol-singers were a-singing, just for you!

You can by all means Jingle all the way right here: CHRISTMAS SHOW (2nd December 2008)

BASS SHOW

TURN UP YOUR LOWS!
So for this show, I conscripted Bass enthusiasts Tom and Rob - aka The Sonic Assault DJs, to provide a few songs that would blow your speakers alongside my BASS-HEAVY SELECTIONS. We were concerned the extensive amounts of Bass would destroy the optical cables transferring the show from the studio, but we seemed to get away clean. But to be sure, tweak your subwoofer before listening to enjoy the MAXIMUM BASS of the LARGE tunes involved on the show.
You can download it right about here: BASS SHOW (25th November 2008)
or listen to the bad ones righty then:

Those ones were:
1. Skream – Filth
2. Skream – Simple City
3. Rusko – Jahova
4. Sander van Doorn – Riff
5. Kid Cudie – Day ‘n’ Night (Crookers Remix)
6. Zomby – Euphoria
7. Dungen - Mina Damer Och Fasaner
8. Noisia – Crank
9. Chase & Status – Running
10. Prodigy – Charly (Trip into Drum & Bass version)
11. Digital Mystikz – Earth a Run Red
12. Byetone – Plastic Star
13. Nero – This Way
14. Squarepusher – The Modern Bass Guitar
15. Roxy vs El-B - 2 Bad
16. Mr Scruff – Bass Baby

and they were pretty good I would say.

DARK/BLACK/DRONE/SLUDGE/DEATH METAL SHOW

It was definitely about time to branch out to a genre of music that I really knew very very little about, and that I often found hard to listen to. With few preconceptions, (as always) I carried out a significant amount of research(!) into Metal in general, and after listening to a fair amount of stuff, and after doing this show with my friend Tim who brought in some excellent songs to the studio, I have started to take a serious liking to the genre.

SO I suggest that you check out the show, because maybe you will experience a similar enlightening: Download the METAL SHOW (18th November 2008)

REMEMBRANCE DAY SHOW

Since it was the 11th of November, Remembrance day, remembering all those who died in the Wars, 90 years after the signing of the Armistice of The Great War, and ESPECIALLY since the show was at 11:00pm, (making the time and date, 11pm on the 11th of the 11th!) I decided to do a show where I played songs that the soldiers would have been listening during the wars.
It was very interesting to research; I even discovered (and played) some recordings of songs that the soldiers sung while marching and in the trenches.
My good friends Liv and Katherine joined in with the song selection, and provided some very interesting War-time anecdotes!

I also took the opportunity to provide some suggestions for more recent songs and bands which I thought deserved to be seen as "classic" as well.
This was the most listened to show in all of Cambridge that week!
Subterranean Trawler = Number 1 etc...!

RADIO SHOW ARCHIVE

Loyal Listeners,

due to overwhelming demand I have decided to create a space on the internet where you can listen to my radio show, Subterranean Trawler - a weekly show on Cambridge University Radio - WHENEVER and WHEREVER you please.

You can obviously listen to the show LIVE on the CUR1350 website but here you can listen to the shows which have been recorded!

I hope this is helpful!
